The Estate

High House is a Grade 1 listed Country House built in the mid 18th Century.

It is now the home and workplace of two artists.

The house occupies a secluded rural location, surrounded by 130 acres of parkland, 40 acres of woodland, an orchard and walled garden.

As of 2018 we have a café in the walled garden.

The nearest village shop and pub are two miles away (we have 2 bikes for you to use but you may want to bring your own). The nearest train station is King Lynn, 1 hour 40 minutes from London.

After years of refurbishment, we now have the studio space and accommodation to support visiting artists. The desire is to share this wonderful place.

This is however delivered as an exchange, there are many parts to the day-to-day running of the estate and we would welcome your assistance.

This work will be outdoors in the garden, orchard, parkland and woodland, all of which require management to keep them healthy and productive. The work can be tailored to individuals with particular skills but predominantly it will be about an extra pair of hands.

Thinning, clearing, burning, chopping, chipping, digging, mulching and weeding.

We expect up to 4 hours work per weekday morning (8.30-12.30), then the day is your own. This will be physical work but also rewarding and we see it as positive part of the experience of staying here.
